Participatory Art / Performance / Stop-motion Animation
“帧” and “针”, both pronounced as “zhēn” in Chinese. “针” as a measure word means stitch, pieces of thread sewn in cloth. “帧” means frames, the still images of a video. By replacing the needle with needle camera, Zhēn used a modified sewing machine as a stop motion animation maker to capture the narrative underneath the fabric. This project aims to explore the commonalities between the production of clothes and videos.

老式缝纫机，双通道视频，尺寸可变
“帧“和”针“，在汉语中都读作 ”zhēn"，可用作量词。缝衣服、编织时，针穿布的一下为一“针”。制作视频时，一张静止图像即为一“帧”。二者皆为各自生产流程中的基本单位。本项目使用针孔摄像头改造出一台可以制作定格动画的缝纫机。它将被用于捕获布料之下的叙事，借此探索服装制作和动态影像制作之间的共性。
